John TravoltaJohn Travolta considered retiring after his son died.

The Grease! actor and wife Kelly Preston were left devastated when son Jett passed away in 2009 and he admits it was only the support from his fans, loved ones and faith in Scientology which prevented him from turning his back on his career in the aftermath of the tragedy.

"I lost my son a few years ago and I had been having quite a time of that. And after three years of getting a lot of support from the church and a lot of support from people - fans and family - I decided that it was OK to go back to work. Because I even thought of retiring at one point, because it just felt like too much."

John - who is making his acting return in new movie Savages - admits he is still impressed by his "extraordinary" career achievements. "Grease! and Saturday Night Fever were the number one and two records in history until Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' came along. So for five years we held the crown for one and two! It was pretty extraordinary. And still I think that 'You're The One That I Want' [from Grease!] is the biggest duet in history," he added.

Helen MirrenHelen Mirren admits that portraying Queen Elizabeth on stage will be a "challenge."

The 67-year-old actress - who has previously played the monarch in hit movie The Queen - is to star in The Audience in London's West End next year and admits the role will be tough as she has to portray the royal from when she took the throne aged 25 right up until the modern day. "That'll be a challenge," she said.

However, the actress has given the role some thought and thinks the monarch's "unbelievable consistency in everything" will help with the transition, and she is also studying the changes in her speech patterns. "Her voice has changed and I can use that - she had a terribly posh voice when she was young. But now even the queen, while she isn't quite dropping the ends of her lines - though her grandsons do - there's a tiny bit of estuary creeping in there. I can use all that to signify the age range and we'll come up with other things," she explained to The Daily Mail.

Jake GyllenhaalJake Gyllenhaal was tased while doing research for his latest movie.

The 31-year-old actor stars in thriller End of Watch, which tells the story of two Los Angeles police offers who attempt to take down a drug cartel and Jake revealed he got caught on the wrong end of a taser weapon and was hit with "thousands of volts of electricity" while preparing for the role.

"It was not pleasant. Thousands of volts of electricity through your body in a very short period of time was not fun. But ultimately, I can talk about it!" he told Us Weekly.

Jake also revealed going on patrol with real life police officers, during which they attended a murder scene, also made him question his choice of profession: "I had no idea what to expect. The guys I was with... are so seasoned and so professional. We went to a call where someone had been shot -- it was a murder. This was a moment where I think you see the absurdity of your own job in light of the situation that you're seeing. I thought to myself, 'What am I doing here, why am I here?' Then I understood we're trying to make a movie that's authentic. It was no joke to any of us, and that made it no joke to me."

Logan Lerman and Emma WatsonEmma Watson enjoyed her "epic" kissing scene in The Perks of Being a Wallflower. The 22-year-old actress has a steamy smooch with Logan Lerman in the coming of age drama, and was so moved by the scene when she read the script, she knew she was going to have to be a special on set moment.

"I mean, when I read our first kiss scene, it's so epic. It's like the most beautiful scene I've ever seen written on a page. And it was like, 'Oh, we're going to have to kill this one!' Like, it's so good, I wanted to do it justice. And it's so emotional and we're both so vulnerable in it, but the main thing was I get to do it with Logan. He makes me feel so safe, so it's going to be fine, which made it fine," she told MTV News.

While Logan made Emma feel comfortable for the scene, he was not so confident about the kiss because he was nervous about locking lips in front of the crew. "[It was] nerve-racking. Those scenes are always hard to do when there's 15, 20 other people in the room," he explained.

Alicia SilverstoneAlicia Silverstone struggled to be taken seriously after starring in Clueless. The actress shot to worldwide fame playing ditzy blonde Cher Horowitz in the 1995 chick flick, and although she is grateful for the role she admits it was difficult to convince people she was not the same as her airhead character afterwards.

"I remember doing interviews in London for some movie at the time, and the interviewers would want to talk about the movie, of course, but all I wanted to talk about was murder. They probably expected me to be like the Clueless character, but instead I was sitting there saying stuff like, 'And then they anally electrocute!' I pretty much bummed everyone out," she said in an interview.

Clueless director Amy Heckerling joined Alicia, 35, for the interview, and revealed she cast the actress for the part because she had a Marilyn Monroe-type quality needed for the film. "When I was writing the script for Clueless, I had a vague notion in my head of Cher as a pretty, sweet blonde, who, in spite of being the American ideal, people still really like. You had that Marilyn Monroe thing, which is that other women love you, too," Amy said.

The pair reunited for upcoming motion picture Vamps, which sees Alicia playing a vampire in modern day New York City. The film is to be released in October.

Kristen StewartKristen Stewart would have "turned mad" if she hadn't been able to work on other projects. The 22-year-old actress admits portraying Bella Swan in the five Twilight Saga movies has taken a lot of "patience," so she was glad to have been able to shoot smaller films in between working on the vampire blockbusters.

"I lived in the Twilight world for about four years - that's a very long time that demands a lot of patience on your part. Thank God, I had the opportunity to do smaller movies like The Runaways, Welcome to the Rileys, and On the Road in between. Otherwise I'd probably have turned mad," she said.

Kristen - who recently admitted to cheating on boyfriend Robert Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders - also insisted she doesn't get upset by the "circus" that surrounds her personal life as a result of her fame from the Twilight Saga because the films mean so much to her:

Vanessa HudgensVanessa Hudgens was desperate to take on "grittier" roles after shooting the High School Musical films. The actress shot to fame portraying Gabriella Montez in the Disney trilogy, but by the time she'd finished the third installment she was ready to ditch her squeaky clean alter-ego.

"For a while I was kind of struggling and fighting for these roles that I just desperately wanted. It was hard and it was a struggle, but then again life is always a struggle. Having a career will always be a struggle. You'll always have to fight for what you want. Definitely crossing over and being able to tackle these grittier parts was a challenge, but I feel like I've done it! It's a whole new chapter!" she said, speaking in an interview with Untitled.

Although she wanted a new challenge, Vanessa - who dated her High School Musical co-star Zac Efron until December 2010 - insists making the children's films was an "incredible" experience for which she will always be grateful for.
